Brady LS250 Labeling Machine
Quick Start User Instructions

This is a quick start instruction guide for the Brady LS250 labeling machine.

A complete user's manual is included with the Brady LS250 (and free replacements are available). These instructions are provided here for your convenience, should you need some quick information.

Based on these instructions you will be able to use most of the Brady LS250’s functions. For more complex labels and more detailed information, please refer to the user’s manual.

User's Manual Appendix - Changing Default Settings

Brady LS250 Labeler On/Off - Press the button located on the left side of the machine.

Selecting a Font and Type Size - You can skip this step if you want to use the default font, Swiss Medium.

To switch to the Dutch font, press the font key, press the right arrow until Dutch appears, then press enter. The screen will then display the type size as auto. Press the enter key and the machine will automatically adjust the print size for the size of the tape and the number of lines used.

If you want to change the type size, press the right or left arrow keys to scroll to the desired size and press enter. An "FT" will now appear on the display followed by the prompt.

Creating a Label - The display will show Label # and Zone #. Type the information you want printed on the label. Pressing the ENTER key starts a new line on that label or zone.

Using Special Functions - Most function keys such as framing and underline work in the same manner as the font key. Press the key for the function you want to use. If there are several options for that function, the right and left arrow keys will allow you to scroll forward and back through the options. When you find the option you want, press ENTER. The selected function will be applied to all text from that point on.

Use the "Fn" key to access functions written in blue such as underline and barcode. To turn off a function, move the cursor under the function symbol on the display and press the delete key.

New Label Zones - Press the new zone key to start a new zone on the label. You must be at the end of an existing zone in order to start a new zone.

Different zones allow you to create more complex labels such as including a bar code, symbol, or single line of text followed by multiple lines of text. Use the right and left arrow keys to scroll through the zones you’ve created.

Printing Your Label - Press the print key for a single copy of the label.

To print multiple copies, press the repeat key, enter the number of copies, then press enter.

Saving and Retrieving Labels in Memory - After creating a label, press the file key. Then press the right arrow until "save" is displayed, and press the ENTER key. Type a name for the label to be saved, press enter.

To retrieve a label, press the file key, then press the right arrow until "get" is displayed. Press enter. Either type in the name of the label or scroll through the list of saved labels using the right and left arrow keys until you find the label you want. Then press enter. Press the letter "Y" when asked to overwrite and the label will then be displayed ready to print.

Peeling the Label - It is easier to peel the label from the backing, not the backing from the label.

Hold the label with your thumb and index finger in one hand, with the label facing you. With the index finger on your other hand, curl the end of the label toward you near the corner. Make it a sharp curl as close to the end of the label as possible. The backing should pull back away from the label.

Brady LS250 Maintenance - Every 3 to 4 cartridges, clean the cutting shears and the "thermal head" assembly using isopropyl alcohol on a cotton swab. IMPORTANT: Turn the machine OFF before cleaning.

If you've lost your Brady LS250 Labeling Machine user's manual, we are happy to provide you with a new copy.
